RAPTURE:
Post-Tribulation and Pre-Wrath
Rapture
Basics
In the Christian Community,
the RAPTURE is the end-time event when GOD will catch up, take, receive, and gather Jesus
Christ’s Believers in the clouds with Himself. These are described
in:
I Thessalonians
4: 17
Then we
which are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds,
to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall
we ever be with the Lord.
Matthew
24: 31
And
he shall send his angels with a great sound
of a trumpet, and they shall gather
together
his elect from the four winds, from one
end of heaven to the other.
Matthew
24: 40
Then
shall two be in the field; the one
shall be taken, and the
other left.
John 14:
3
And
if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come again, and receive you
unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may
be also.
II Thessalonians
2: 1
Now we beseech
you, brethren, by the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and
by our gathering together unto him,
(NOTE: Throughout this
writing, all underlining and bold lettering have been added. Red
lettered quotations of Scripture show the words spoken by Jesus Christ)
The main Scriptural
presentation of events prior to the RAPTURE are provided by Jesus
Christ when He answered some questions from His disciples relating to issues
including “... thy coming...” (Mt
24: 3) Jesus Christ provided the answers in a relatively long speech
delivered on the Mount of Olives. This answer has become known as the “Olivet
Discourse”.
Christ’s
reply is recorded in Mt 24, Mk 13, and Lk 21.
Only events specifically
related to timing of the RAPTURE are
presented.
_____________________________
Jesus Christ stated there
will be an “abomination of desolation” which
had been described, previously, by the prophet Daniel. Then, when that
occurs, Jesus said there would be “great
tribulation”:
Matthew
24: 15
When ye
therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of
by Daniel the prophet, stand
in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand,)
Matthew
24: 21
For then
shall be great tribulation, such as was
not since the beginning of the world to this
time, no, nor ever shall be.
II Thessalonians
2: 3&4
Let no man deceive you
by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away
first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is
worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing
himself that he is God. The abomination
of desolation is also described as “that
man of sin be revealed -- showing
himself that he is God.”
Going back to Daniel (as
instructed by Jesus), we find prophecies about a “covenant”,
which is “confirmed”, followed by “sacrifice
and the oblation to cease”, or be “taken away”.
After time, there will be the ”abomination
of desolation”:
Daniel 9:27
And he shall confirm the
covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause
the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading
of abominations he shall make it desolate,
even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Daniel 11:
31
And arms shall stand on
his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall
take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination
that maketh desolate.
Daniel 12:
11
And from the
time that the daily sacrifice shall
be taken away, and the abomination
that maketh
desolate set up, there shall be a thousand
two hundred and ninety days.
So, these Scripture tell
us that from the mid point of the seven weeks (whenever that is) to the set
up of the abomination of desolation,
there will be 1290 days. And,
that is at the same time when the great tribulation starts!!
Then, Jesus states that “immediately
after the tribulation of those days” (that’s great
tribulation), the RAPTURE will occur:
Matthew
24: 29, 30, 31
Immediately
after the tribulation of those days shall the sun
be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and
the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the
heavens shall be shaken:
And then
shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven:
and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and
they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of
heaven with power and great glory. And he shall
send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet,
and they shall gather together his elect from the
four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Next, we find that Scripture
also tells us the timing of when the great
tribulation ends --
which is the same time the RAPTURE occurs
(gather together his elect).
After Daniel was told how
many days there would be from the daily sacrifice
being taken away until the abomination
of desolation and start of great
tribulation: he was informed (and he recorded) that
anyone waiting to the 1335 days would
be “Blessed”, and he (Daniel) would be resurrected (stand)
at the end of those same days.
Daniel 12:12-13
Blessed is he that
waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred
and five and thirty days. But go thou thy way till the end
be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in
thy lot at the end of the days.
(The term translated to “stand” more
appropriately means to stand up because
he could not really rest and stand while
he was still dead).
So, the RESURRECTION and RAPTURE of
Believers occur on the same day when those that stand (resting/dead
Believers) are resurrected first. This all occurs 1335
days after the daily sacrifice and oblation are
taken away, and after forty-five days of abomination
of desolation and great tribulation.
I Corinthians
15: 51 & 52
Behold, I show you a mystery,
We shall not all sleep, but we all shall be changed, In a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and
the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
I Thessalonians
4: 16 & 17
For the Lord himself shall
descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with
the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then
we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with
the Lord.
Daniel had stated: “Blessed is
he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three
hundred and
five and thirty days.” Basically, this means being “Blessed” due
to “hanging in there” -- keeping faith -- during the Great
Tribulation. In the New Testament, the word “Blessed” is
used at least thirteen times relative to the end-times -- some examples:
Luke 12:
37
Blessed are those
servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall
find watching: verily I say unto you, that
he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to
meat, and will come forth and serve them.
II Timothy
4: 8
Henceforth there is laid
up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that
love his appearing.
(That
sure will be “Blessed”!!!)
Revelation
19: 9
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they
which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto
me, These are the true sayings of God.
Revelation
20: 6
Blessed and
holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second
death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and
shall reign with him a thousand years.
Revelation
22: 7
Behold,
I come quickly: blessed is he
that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of
this book.
The word “blessed” means to
be fully satisfied -- nothing more could be desired!!!
Is our relationship with
Jesus Christ, and our service to Him reflect
His desires for us -- that we would be “blessed” ??? [Do
we “bless” Him ???]
SUMMARY
Scripture tells us that from
the mid point of the seven weeks to the set up of the
abomination of desolation,
there will be 1290 days. And,
that is at the same time when
the great tribulation starts!!
Then,
Jesus indicated that "immediately after the
tribulation of those days" (that is the great tribulation), “they
shall gather together his elect” (that is the RESURRECTION and RAPTURE)
which will occur 1335 days after the daily
sacrifice and oblation are taken away -- which is after
the forty-five days of abomination
of desolation and great tribulation.
